Share the road - Give the motorcycle the same amount of space as you would need for an automobile.
Retrain your eyes- Be alert for motorcycles, they can be in your blind spot, on the edge of a traffic lane or screened by another car. Don't just use your mirrors, but glance over your shoulder for cyclists.
A safety-conscious motorcyclist will keep their headlight on, even in the daytime.
Judge distance- Because a motorcycle is smaller, it may appear farther away than it actually is and may seem to be moving more slowly. Allow yourself more following distance when overtaking a motorcycle. Add time to the 3-second rule for defensive driving.
Watch for motorcycle hazards - Never follow a motorcycle too closely - the same hazards that can entrap an automobile driver may cause a motorcycle to take a spill. Give yourself plenty of room to maneuver, if needed
